Why is a feature locked?

A lock icon or an "isn't in your plan" page means the feature isn't in your plan. Here's how to unlock it.

If you see a lock icon, or a page that says "… isn't in your plan", that feature is part of a higher plan. We show it rather than hide it, so you know it's there.

Where you'll see locks

  • A small lock next to a menu item, like Expenses, Pipeline or Settings → Custom fields.
  • A button with a lock, like New role on Team & roles. Hover over it to see which feature it needs.
  • A full page that says the feature isn't in your plan.
  • In the app, a lock badge on the More screen, or a screen that says it isn't in your plan.

If you're the Owner

  1. Click See plans on the locked page, or open Settings → Billing.
  2. Choose the plan that includes the feature.

It unlocks as soon as your plan changes. On the app, go back and open the screen again.

Not sure which plan has what? See Plans and features.

If you're not the Owner

Only the Owner can change the plan. Ask them to upgrade. The page will say "Ask the account owner to upgrade the Hello to Paid plan."

It says I can't add more people

Each plan has a user limit: Starter 1, Pro up to 5, Growth unlimited. When you're at the limit, Add person on Settings → Team & roles is greyed out. Upgrade to add more, or remove someone you no longer need.

It's locked, but my plan should include it

Some newer features are switched on business by business while they roll out, and add-ons (texting, importing from Jobber, payment emails) are switched on by us. Those don't show a lock: they simply aren't in the menu until they're on. See Plans and features.

Otherwise your plan may have been set up differently for your business. Email support@hellotopaid.com or use the contact form and tell us which feature.

Tip: A whole account where nothing can be saved is different. That's read-only mode, not a locked feature. See My account is read-only.
